Project monitoring

For third party renewable energy projects; project NGOs will be invited to use APS to search for equipment suppliers and project developers and subscribe to the scheme’s monitoring system.

Project monitoring will be an important feature of APS. Villagers will be encouraged to nominate an energy agent to assist in the assessment of energy requirements and to monitor provision. Other charities that are partnering in the scheme will assess performance. The performance of projects will be monitored on the APS’ website. Case studies will be regularly published.

The APS monitoring system will be used to assess the performance of the project developer and the ultimate sustainability of the project.

By monitoring projects, AfricaConnect would be able to identify how successful renewable energy projects are in delivering energy services in Africa.  This would be extremely important information because it would go some way to preventing the wasteful use of funds and avoid the disappointment when community expectations are not met.
